Reminiscent of the old-time barbershop and the hot stove, cracker barrel, grocery store, City Tobacco of Edwardsville provides a welcome gathering place for locals to while away the time. With storefront window seating and an elegant lounge with a turn-of-the-century ambiance, Persian carpet, grand leather furniture, and artwork hanging on plushly papered walls, people from all stations in life congregate to exchange stories, ideas, and news of the day.

“The engaging conversations reach far and wide and could be about food, alcoholic treats, politics, intriguing hobbies, sports, the arts, and creativity, and, on occasion, they help me get clearer about my inner self,” said Dr. Les Turoczi, speaking for most of the City Tobacco crowd. “There is a comradeship at this shop that harkens back to an earlier time when people seemed more authentic, open, giving, and appreciative of the things that reflected craftsmanship, honor, and respect. Why wouldn’t anyone want to be at a place like that? I am truly grateful for City Tobacco and the friends there that make it a special experience.”
